Sharon Appelbaum is a former Manhattan prosecutor now utilizing her extensive trial and investigatory skills in defense of her clients in criminal cases in California. She is a member of both the New York State Bar and California State Bar.
Sharon obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League school. Before attending law school, Sharon worked at the NYC law firm, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, before choosing a career in criminal law. She then attended Temple University Beasley School of Law as a Beasley Scholar, the school’s highest based merit scholarship. At school, she was an Editor on Law Review, a Teaching Assistant for the Integrated Trial Advocacy Program, and a certified legal intern at the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office.
Following law school, Sharon began her legal career at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. As an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan for several years, Sharon handled violent crimes including attempted murder, burglary, robbery, and assault, and financial crimes including identity theft, larceny, money laundering, and cybercrime. She supervised younger attorneys and worked with members of law enforcement daily. During her time there, she sentenced and arraigned high profile cases often followed by the media: the sentencing of rapper Busta Rhymes, inappropriate conduct at Stuyvesant High School, and conducted long-term large scale investigations including organized crime and the indictment of 94 individuals in a large scale check fraud scheme.
Upon moving to California, Sharon coached the Pepperdine University School of Law Trial Team and more recently, was an attorney for the Coalition to Abolish Slavery & Trafficking working with clients charged with prostitution and interfacing with the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
